Spare ribs


  1. Heat your oven to 150C/130C fan/gasoline mark 2.

  2. Although the oven is warming, peel and roughly chop the onion. Then peel and crush the garlic in a garlic crusher.

  3. Spot a frying pan over a medium heat until finally it is scorching, then add the olive oil, onion and garlic. Fry for 4 to 5 minutes or until the onion has softened.

  4. Add the chilli (if making use of), fennel seeds and brown sugar and cook, stirring, for a even more one to two minutes until finally the sugar has melted.

  5. Add the tomato ketchup and soy sauce and stir everything collectively. Carry to the boil, then minimize the heat and simmer for ten minutes, right up until the sauce thickens up.

  6. Put the ribs into a deep-sided roasting tray and pour more than the sauce.

  7. Cover the tray with foil and place it into the oven for 2 hours, then enhance the oven temperature to 180C/160C fan/gas mark four, take away the foil and cook for thirty to 45 minutes far more.
